Alberese

Alberese is a fraction of the town of Grosseto, located 20 km southeast of the capital, this area is the entrance to the Parco Naturale della Maremma.
The name of Alberese first appears in the 11th century and has spread in the surrounding rural areas that go from the inland to the sea, through the northern slopes of the Mountains.

The modern farming village, dominated by the huge Villa Granducale, has been developed over the past 2 centuries, thanks to land reform and the allocation of land to peasants coming mainly from Veneto region. These settlers were able to cultivate the lands and respect at the same time the strong naturalistic identity of this area. Today, you can still see free-ranging horses and oxen populate the area and live undisturbed.
