A major event celebrating the art of the blacksmith is held every other year in Stia, during which there is the individual and team world forging championship.

Italian and foreign blacksmiths gather in the Casentino and compete for the title of forging champion.

They can use three things: a piece of iron, fire and an anvil. The contestants have to use all their creative flair and sensibility to bend the iron to their will and breathe life into it.

The European Biennial of the Blacksmith is a place of leadership in the field of the wrought iron, thanks to its ability to value and to promote the specificities and the wisdom of the artisan masters. It is in Stia that the smith art finds its most important stage. During the Biennial days Stia is the place where smiths from all over the world meet and confront.

The Biennial is a meeting point for ideas, styles, techniques, tradition and innovation.
