Frequently asked questions

  • Where is my verification or reservation email?
Do you have an email filter setup on your Mail account? If you do not see the email in your Inbox, check your Spam, Bulk or Junk folder. Certain web-based email services have been known to delay Tuscanweb email. If you do not wish to wait any longer, you can also try to sign up using a different email address. If you have Yahoo e-mail account, to be able to use him properly to login on Tuscanweb you need to input "registrations and reservations @tuscanweb.com" email in your contact/address in your Yahoo account. We are working with Yahoo to try and resolve this issue.
  • Villas in Tuscany
Residences locally known as 'Villas' usually refer to a stately family home with grape and/or olive growing dating back several centuries or more. That is where the word got some of its aura going back to Roman times. These residences are rarely rented as one unit and are mainly used for private functions or converted to Bed and Breakfast's or apartments. Villa is now a commercialised term referring to anything from a converted rural outbuilding to a townhouse. However it usually implies exclusivity in some form or another, real or not as may be, and of course a pool!
  • Apartments in Tuscany
Apartments are almost all privately owned and mainly in towns. In historic city centres they are mostly found in converted family mansions (palazzos) or town houses. In rural areas apartments are mostly converted farm buildings associated with a larger estate. If you are lucky you may find some in converted villas or castles on family estates dating back centuries. The approach to a town centre apartment may leave a lot to be desired; chunks of plaster missing from the walls in the lobby area, no lift, worn out stone or terra cotta floors, dusty stairwell and dark corners everywhere. Once you are inside you will be in a different world. Welcome to medieval Florence.
  • Hotels in Tuscany
A typical hotel , as in most of Italy, would be family owned and not usually part of a chain. It is an integral part of the town scene and is often converted from earlier uses as a family mansion (Palazzo or town house ). In the country it would be a larger farmhouse or a villa. It will usually offer a wider range of services than a Bed and Breakfast including meals, a bar and a reception desk. Some may be centuries old and are among the oldest and most luxurious hotels in the world .
  • B&B's in Tuscany
B&B's are a relatively new concept in Italy. You may think you are a guest in someone's else's main residence, but in fact there are many shades of residency. You may be personally welcomed by the owner or meet no one other than the key holder. They will generally have 2-5 double rooms and can range from the bijou with hotel-like services to the twin-bed basic variety.
