
This is a festival in existence from the 1967 that showcases the infinite gastronomic delights that can be created from the versatile chestnut. The first Crastatone was made in Public Square on initiative of a group of friends, in order to celebrate the chestnut, than in the times ago it had represented the only source of maintenance for the inhabitants of the Amiata.
A day of plentiful roasted, sugared, salted, baked and pureed chestnuts that can be washed down with the fine wines of the region. During the festivity typical plates can be tasted, many made up of chestnuts and come opened the wine cellars, stand, and banquets along all the ways of the country where the atmosphere is loads with smells and joy. Lots of eats, music and good times.
