Siena is famous for its Christmas Market with a special pottery fair. The Market runs the entire month of December until the first week of January. The Christmas Market takes place on the Piazza Matteotti, selling pottery, local sweets, fruit, toys, books, terracotta, glass, wood, wrought iron, fashion accessories and leather goods. On December 13th, there is the Festival of Santa Lucia and after church services, the streets are filling up with ceramic vendors.
