For 36 years, the University of Georgia Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy has been a leader in international arts education.
This Program provides a challenging opportunity for the serious art student who wishes to combine international travel with an intensive studio and classroom experience. The medieval hill town of Cortona offers a rich historical environment where students can easily integrate with the lifestyle of a typical Italian community.
Program Highlights: Cortona - a small, safe Tuscan town with numerous cultural activities that shares a 32-year tradition of goodwill and respect with the University. The government and local citizens provide generous support and encouragement to the UGA Studies Abroad Program and its students. A rich, historical environment where students can easily merge with the normal lifestyle of a typical Italian community. Provides a challenging opportunity for the serious student who wishes to combine international travel with an intensive period of studio and classroom work. Academic resources include a computer lab and a library. Student facilities open extended hours for studio work & activities. Day-long field trips throughout each semester to nearby locations such as Perugia, Assisi, Arezzo, Florence, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Siena, Ravenna and others. Field trips occur on Saturdays and vary per session. Overnight trips to Rome, Venice, Naples and various other cities depending on itinerary. Full-time staff in Cortona. Program fee includes a shared dorm-style room, breakfast everyday and dinner Monday through Friday, hotels and travel in Europe with the program, international I.D. card and university credit ( the maximum number of credit hours allowed will vary depending on the term you attend.) No meals are provided while the program is in Venice. Program fee does not include airfare to and from Italy.
