
The Centre develops an activity relative to the environment problems, organizing excursions, and guided visits to the Centre and on the Monteferrato protected area, shows, seminaries, videos and films.
Thanks to its activities and volunteers is became an important meeting point for the Prato area where everyone can come to ask any information or to undertake directly in the environment protection.
The Natural Sciences Centre Museum, contains 750 m2 of showrooms with collections of birds, mammals, fishes, reptiles, insects, shells, minerals, stones, herbariums, and archaeological and paleontologist finds of the Galceti Paleolithic Mousterian station.
Inside the Museum as inside the park there are wild guests that arrive injured and ill to the Centre.
After the treatment and the readapting they will go back to freedom.
Many of these animals remain spontaneously in the park.
In Galceti there is also a Mousterian station, witnessed by a Paleolithic industry that has used the Monteferrato red jasper.
The finds inside the museum evidenced human settlements since the Paleolithic era (over 40.000 years ago).
There are also finds from the Bronze and Etruscan era.
The Monteferrato with its geological, floristic and environmental peculiarity is another important characteristic of the Prato district's land.
The Natural Sciences Centre, besides having proposed the realization of the park since the early 70's, gives further information trough an international level scientific fruition dedicating its own showroom inside the museum.
