La Locanda stands on a plateau 600 meters above sea level in the most beautiful part of Chianti. Surrounded by vineyards, woods and olive groves, it overlooks Volpaia, a magnificent medieval village facing Radda in Chianti.

La Locanda, originally a 16th century farm converted into a charming estate, has the relaxed atmosphere of a very comfortable country house that is incidentally a hotel run by its owners with the help of a small staff.

In the big house there are six double rooms and a suite, each with private bathroom. The nearby former stables now house the sitting room with a large fire place, library with bar and dining room, leading to a large sunny terrace.

Although the rooms have all modern conveniences, the furniture and color schemes have been carefully chosen to keep the atmosphere of a private house.

Next to the swimming pool there is a large terrace with breath-taking views for outdoor dining.

All this makes La Locanda the perfect retreat after visiting Chianti Classico cellars, a walk through the woods or a hard day’s sightseeing in nearby Florence, Siena, Arezzo or San Gimignano.

Whole house can be rented for a minimum of 3 nights for special occasions, family reunions ect. We have 7 double rooms.

Accommodation is open until the end of October and we will open again in the mid of April.
